[Corporate History]

1939 Founded as the casting and forging division of Nakajima Aircraft Metals Co., Ltd.
1955 Refounded as Nittoku Metals Industry Co., Ltd., a joint venture with Japan Special Steel Co., Ltd.
Began producing precision forged products, such as steam turbine blades.
1974 Formed a technical alliance with TRW Inc. to produce small precision forged blades from titanium alloy. Began producing TF 40 engine blades for T2/F1.
1982 Consolidated with Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd., as the Fine Material division.
1987 Began producing V2500 engine blades for passenger aircraft, including the A319, 320, 321 & MD90.
1988 Began producing PW4000 engine blades for passenger aircraft, including the B767.
1997 Began producing CF34-8 & -10 engine fan blades for passenger aircraft, including the CRJ-700/-900 &ERJ-170/-175,-190/-195.
2000 Separated from Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd. and started operating independently as Sumiju Precision Forging Co., Ltd.
2003 Moved operations from Tanashi Works to inside the Yokosuka Works.
